The groupwork packages that we run for Young People are as varied as the needs of those participating in them. We pride ourselves on being able to offer appropriate groups that are designed to meet the needs of both Young People and the organisations responsible for them and often meet with you to discuss the needs of your proposed group before putting a package together to be agreed prior to the group commencing.

We do of course have a number of very popular groups, and if you know what you want there’s plenty there to choose from.

Rather than detail everything here we have put together a detailed Groupwork Directory to outline all of the groups that we run, but some of the most popular ones at present are:

Small Tuition Groups (T-Unit)

These groups are a maximum of 4 Y/P’s and are a classroom based group working on both Key-skills and accreditation (please see ‘Tuition’ for further details).

Outward Bound and Bushcraft Groups

These groups use a mixture of ‘Bushcraft survival skills’ and organised Outward Bound activities to encourage personal growth and confidence. As well as being fun and challenging these groups can help to foster appropriate peer interaction and trust, along with developing independence, problem solving and motivation skills.

Art groups

The Art groups are there to encourage positive expression and interaction through using a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, graffiti art, music and video. By allowing Young People to express themselves, their lives, difficulties and emotions in a constructive manner this can then help them to discover other positive ways of expression within other aspects of their lives.

Site-Specific or After School Groups

Working with groups within specific areas, such as their school grounds or youth centres we can provide groupwork to help the needs of identified communities. This can also work effectively as part of the extended schools programmes and previous work has included building a BMX bike track for the residential element of an EBD Special School and the planning and construction of a climbing wall with children from a school for those with multiple disabilities.

Specific Issue Groups

Including: Anger Management, Transitional, Nurture, Young Women’s Groups, Teambuilding and Induction Programmes etc.

As well as running established programmes we also run groups looking at specific issues, such as Anger Management. Such groups adopt a practical approach to looking into the issues affecting the participants and work to build confidence, explore alternatives and plan out strategies to help once the group has concluded. These groups often use a variety of methods to explore the highlighted themes.

We also run groupwork packages that look at issues and develop skills such as promoting positive self-images, working effectively with peers and adults, effective communication, devised drama workshops, junk band projects etc. We also run small tuition groups covering standard core curriculum subjects and a variety of accreditation (see ‘Tuition’ for more details).

At Active Inclusion we pride ourselves on the flexibility and creativity of our approach. If there is anything that you may consider to be of aid to you, but may not be listed, then please don’t hesitate to enquire; we may be able to provide what you are looking for.
