Our trained and experienced teaching staff specialise in working with Children and Young People who have missed out on significant elements of learning and/or have specific learning difficulties of cognitive abilities.

Through a relaxed and friendly, yet professional and motivating approach our teaching team allow Young People to enjoy learning as well as targeting tuition at specific difficulties that they may have educationally.

Young People who come to us will always have a level of intensive 1:1 Tuition, whether exclusively or in combination with group learning experiences, in order to provide a safe and productive environment in which to address aspects of learning that have caused them significant difficulties when in a larger classroom setting. Attention is typically paid to raising Literacy and Numeracy levels and may adopt practical approaches to learning as well as direct academic studying. For many of our Young People they present an appearance of being disinterested and disengaged from learning, but through encouragement, support and guidance they can be keen to gain the skills and knowledge that they will need for later life. By making learning relevant and applicable we are able to engage and motivate Young People and give them practical skills which they can take with them once they leave the education system. Applied learning is also key to our teaching with young people and often practical tasks, such as carpentry or interactive science involve the translation of more academic subjects in order to complete them.

When Young People are away from formal education systems they can suffer significantly in their ability to access qualifications and accreditation for their achievements. We are always striving to develop the qualifications that we can offer our Young People and at present offer accreditation in ASDAN (inc. Award Schemes, CoPE and Aope and Short Course Awards), AQA Award Scheme, ALAN (Adult Numeracy & Literacy), OCN Step-UP Diploma Course and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Although we are not currently able to offer GCSE courses we can provide study and revision for these and often help Young People to access them, if appropriate, through the school or organisation that they are on roll at.

When a Young Person comes to us for tuition we quickly enter them into gaining accreditation for their work. Through doing this it helps to develop confidence in their abilities, an objective to their learning and a sense of achievement through their work.
Teaching sessions may also take place within the formal school setting in order to either reintegrate back into a school setting or to help prevent exclusion whilst still maintaining a normal school routine. Our team can also work closely with existing school staff to help implement support strategies, assist in Special Educational Needs Assessments and provide individual time for pupils within a larger school setting.
